Regenerative Medicine

Avoid Surgery

Stem cells and Regenerative Medicine are important components of the human body. What makes them unique from other cells is that they are unspecialized cells, which can change into any type of cell within the body. This means that they can renew themselves to repair and rebuild damaged tissue, such as muscle, tendon, ligament and cartilage.

Umbilical cord stem cells have the potential to naturally control your immune system, which is necessary to decrease inflammation and heal damaged tissue. This source of stem cells also allows for more viable and healthy stem cells.

Umbilical cord stem cells have proven to be both safe and effective when administered properly.
Stem cells are cells in your body that have not yet differentiated into a specific type of cell. So, stem cells can transform into any type of cell when placed in the right environment. Umbilical cord stem cells have a natural anti-inflammatory effect and do not cause an immune response.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

  • Non-Surgical Pain Solution

Regenerative medicine such as stem cell or platelet rich plasma are minimally invasive treatments done in-office without the dangers of anesthesia or painful surgery. Procedures can take as little as 15 minutes and many patients can drive themselves home the same day.

  • Faster Recovery

The average recovery time for back surgery is 3-8 months and at least 6 weeks out of work. With regenerative medicine, most patients can be back to work or back to the activities they love in just a few days.

  • Healing Your Body Naturally

Pain medications and steroid injections just mask the symptoms of underlying disorders such as arthritis, degenerative disc disease, tendon or muscle tears, and more. Regenerative medicine therapies allow your body to heal itself naturally while reducing the risk of injuries in the future.

What To Expect From Synergy Medical's Regenerative Treatment Services

  • Initial Consult
  • Testing & Diagnostics
  • Treatment
  • Follow-up
  • Insurance & Cost

For your initial visit, you will meet with one of our medical providers either in office or on a telehealth consultation. They will review the types of regenerative medicine therapies available, your entire medical history, current medications and supplements, allergies, treatments tried, and previous x-ray or MRI imaging to determine which regenerative medicine near me therapy may be right for you. This process takes approximately 30 minutes.

Once the medical provider has determined if you may be a candidate for one of our regenerative medicine therapies; they will do an extensive examination on the affected area or areas. This examination includes neurological and musculoskeletal examination, range of motion, palpation, and orthopedic tests designed to identify the problem. The medical provider may order additional imaging if necessary to determine the root cause of the problem. If an X-ray is ordered, one can be done on-site. The recommended treatment plan will be reviewed with you and will take into account the severity of your problem, your personal medical history, treatment goals, and diagnosis. The medical provider will review any pre and post care instructions as well as timeline for treatment and follow up visits. NSAIDs and certain other medications such as blood thinners may need to be stopped prior to treatment.

On the day of the treatment, the medical provider will review consent forms and post injection instructions including activity and work restrictions, if any. Any additional questions will be answered. If you are receiving PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) your blood will be drawn for the procedure at this time. You will be positioned for the injection on an exam table and the medical provider will obtain initial image guidance with either an ultrasound or fluoroscopy (X-ray guided) and mark the appropriate areas. The area will be cleansed with a sterile solution and the areas will be injected with imaging guidance. After the injection, a bandage will be applied. You will remain in the office for 15-30 minutes after the injection and may be able drive yourself home.

Depending on the injection type, 1-7 days of rest may be recommended. A follow up call will be completed the next day and you will be scheduled for an in office visit 2-4 weeks after the injection. Typically, you can increase physical activity as tolerated starting 1 week after the injection. Expected healing times vary from patient to patient but are normally 4-12 weeks after the injection. During the healing process, it is imperative that you abstain from NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, advil, aleve, aspirin, or other steroids unless directed by your medical provider.

Due to the highly personalized therapies that Synergy Medical offers, each treatment plan will differ in cost. Each therapy will take into account your specific issue, your medical history and previous treatments, and your treatment goals. At this time, insurance does not cover stem cell therapy or PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) injections. However, there are some regenerative medicine treatments that may be covered with specific diagnosis. Insurance will typically cover your examination, in or out of office imaging, and any follow up visits. Our office will verify any insurance coverage on your consultation day.

This was the best and most professional medical experience I have had in a long time. Melina, Dr. Lewis and staff are exceptional. I would recommend them any time.

Mike P.

I was bone on bone in my left knee and was told that I needed a knee replacement about 5 years ago.   I didn’t want to have surgery at my age so I decided to try stem cell therapy. It’s been almost 3 months since my treatment and I feel like a new man. No more pain and I can finally play tennis again. Thank you to all at synergy for treating me like family and saving my knee. I am forever grateful. If you are thinking about trying stem cells, do it.

Jack R.

I spent 10 years with pain in my back. I tried physical therapy, shots, and thought that I just had to live with it. I went to a seminar about stem cells figured I would look into it since I tried everything else. My first visit was with the nurse practitioner who reviewed my MRI and said that I would be able to do stem cells in my low back. I had my shots a week later by the pain management doctor and it’s been 2 and a half months and I’m happy to say that I am about 80% better. I am ecstatic that I decided to give stem cells a try. I recommend synergy to everyone I know.

Susan L.

My experience with Synergy Medical was outstanding. In less then two months I went from barely being able to walk to a no pain environment.
The staff was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable.
All sessions were conducted on time, in a comfortable atmosphere, catered to my individual needs for a full recovery.

Common Questions About Regenerative Medicine Treatments

Regenerative medicine encompasses a wide range of therapies including Stem Cell therapy, Platelet Rich Plasma, or Amnion. Regenerative medicine is therapies designed to rebuild damaged tissue and restore function to aging, diseased, or injured areas.

At Synergy Medical, we do not use embryonic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are derived from fetal tissue and are illegal in the United States. We use Umbilical Cord Wharton Jelly which is obtained from healthy, live birth, and donated umbilical cords. Platelet Rich Plasma comes from your own blood which is drawn in the office and the platelets are isolated using a centrifuge. Amnion is derived from the amniotic fluid of healthy, live birth babies. Neither Platelet Rich Plasma nor Amnion contains stem cells.

Depending on the area treated and the type of therapy, the procedure can take as little as 15 minutes.

The severity of the injured area, underlying medical conditions, and adherence to pre and post procedure instruction affect the longevity of stem cell therapy. A majority of our patients report pain relief for many years after an injection.

PRP or platelet rich plasma, is obtained by drawing blood from your vein and isolating the platelets prior to injection. Platelets are the blood clotting portion of the blood and release growth factors to an injury. These growth factors allow the body to heal and regenerate. There are no stem cells in PRP.

Stem Cell therapies contain growth factors and stem cells which are the body’s master cells and they assist in repairing and replacing damaged or aging tissue.

PRP and Stem Cell therapy are not mutually exclusive and can be used in combination to assist with healing.

Regenerative medicine treatments at Synergy Medical pose little risk in comparison to surgery or pain medication. The risk of bruising, bleeding, or infection is the same as with any injection. Strict adherence pre and post procedure instructions minimize these risks.

Regenerative medicine therapies can be used for medical conditions such as arthritis, degenerative disc disease, tendon or ligament tears, post surgical healing, muscle tears, bursitis, tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, meniscus tears, rotator cuff tears, and more. It can also be used for hair restoration, facial rejuvenation, scarring, erectile dysfunction, and stress incontinence.

We use a number of different methods to make our patients comfortable during the procedure including topical or injectable numbing, cold spray, oral medication, or Pro-Nox Nitrous Oxide.
